There are any number of things I could be doing right now. Digging my suitcase out, filling travel size bottles of my HABA stuff, straightening my living room and the list goes on. It is not that I have not been productive, I mean I got all of my laundry washed, folded and put away. Those items I am taking to Scottsdale have been pressed, folded and are waiting for me to dig out my suitcase. I have a nail appointment after work tomorrow. I get off work on Tuesday at noon and then I leave on Wednesday at noon. Part of me is excited, part of me is apprehensive and another part of me flat out dreading this trip. And so it goes...

You Are a Lynx
You are a quiet observer of the world around you. Your wisdom comes from listening carefully.
You've always been extra sensitive and aware. And it's made it difficult for you to fit in.

You see past people's outward personas. You are able to penetrate a stranger's soul.
What you've learned about people is both beautiful and ugly. And you keep these secrets to yourself.

This is surprisingly accurate to my personality, I think.

Gotta love my job if for nothing other than the entertainment value.  First, let me preface that I mean no offense to anyone's particular belief pattern.  I, in fact, do believe in the supernatural etc.

Anyway, caller today, a woman in her mid-forties (close to my own age) calls in demanding that we perform an exorcism on her phone line.  She is absolutely convinced that she has a ghost haunting her phone because she can hear voices when she is talking on the phone.  Well my first concealed thought is "well, duh what do you expect when you talk on the phone?" After further conversation (in which I hear her voice) she explains that she is hearing another conversation when she is talking on the phone.  We have already had the lines checked and there is no cross over.  So, I start asking her about her actual phone. She has a 900 MHZ phone! This is like one of the very first models of cordless phones.  I asked her how old her phone is and come to find out she purchased it in 1987! Hello??? Problem solved, at least in my opinion, lady your phone needs to be replaced.  She is still convinced though that the phone line is haunted.  And so it goes...
Dear Flist

I have come to the conclusion that when one needs advice, insight or knowledge this is the place to start.  A bit of background:

My friend Kat has a 14 year old kitten who is now in the midst of what maybe a medical crisis.  She started her monthly cycle about 2 years ago and about a year ago had a normal female exam.  In the last 4 months she has been having at least 2 cycles a month (not good).  Kat is the non-custodial parent and finally convinced kitten's father to take her in to the Dr.  The Dr recommended hormonal therapy (ie birth control) to regulate her cycle, but wanted to do another yearly check-up first.  This is where problem begins.  They could not perform the exam.  There is some kind of mass blocking, the Dr could not even insert a finger. They have ordered an ultra sound for this Friday.

Obviously there is a lot to be considered. Kat has a personal history of cervical cancer and her own mother had many problems with pregnancies.  Everything Kat has read on-line is pointing toward Vaginal Cancer, but she can find no reported information of this condition in one so young. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, first I want to thank all of my flist that offered their opnions on the C****y Nail situation.

I decided this morning that I would do the arylic nail thing and made the appointment straight off for after work.  I know had I delayed I would not have done it because I would have talked myself out of spending the money.  You know it is that "I never spend money on myself thing".  So I took the leap and now I am having adjust to typing with nails again.  This can be an experience as I usually type about 60 -70 words a minute without any problem.  My speed has picked up significantly because I type all day at work.
Okay, here is the deal.

I have the dress, the shoes, the make-up, the jewelry and a plan for my hair but... my nails look like crap.  The recent issues I have had with my health, low blood sugar and all, have destroyed my nails and there is no hope of them being recovered by mid April.

Would it be terribly vain of me to cave in and have acrylic ones done for my trip?

I just truly want to look my best.

I went shopping today to find a dress for the awards banquet I will be attending in April.  I know I know it is only March, but trying to schedule shopping amongst my girlfriend's busy schedule is almost impossible.

Never fear though we found the most lovely dress I have ever owned!  When describing it to [livejournal.com profile] lariope  she said see you should be going to Con so you can be Ball Hermione from [livejournal.com profile] subvers ' His Draught of Delicate Poison, and she is right. The dress is almost the exact color described in the story, but with a center panel of peachy cream.  Made of a kinda gauze and satin materials it has an empire waistline with almost a grecian neckline and flow to it and it is floor length.  I am accessorizing it with a rust bronze shawl, shoes and jewelry. I am very happy with the dress and will make sure to post pic spam after the trip.

You Are Influential and Ambitious
When You Are Comfortable:

You are a glamorous, social person. You love being the center of attention and an object of adoration.
People see you as charming and charismatic. You are naturally dazzling. You are ambitious, and find it easy to get ahead in life.

When You Are At Your Best:

You are enthusiastic and flexible. You are open-minded. You prefer to learn from others... not judge them.
People see you as kind and cooperative. You are very supportive when friends are down on their luck.

When You Are in a Social Setting:

You are a carefree, adventurous person. You love excitement, and you enjoy being in a changing, dynamic environment.
People find you to be funny, generous, and competent. You're well spoken, and you know how to wow people with your words.
I would say this is about 50% true.
First, I hate being the center of attention, glamourous is a term that will never be applied to me, and I am actually quite introverted.  On the other hand I am a consumate overachiever and have never really had to struggle a lot to come out near the top; both in school and work.

Second, the only thing flexible about me are my joints.  However I do enjoy learning and believe if I judge someone else then they have the right to judge me and I would prefer they not so, I return the favor.

And finally... "adventurous"? It took me 35 years to move from my home state and I hate change... just ask my boss.  On the flip side though I know I am sometime even overly generous and I am obviously competent.  I would hope I am well spoken with a degree in Literacy.

...and so it goes.
You Are Combat Boots
You are a complete and total rebel. You refuse to do what you're told, and you're quite stubborn.
You really don't care what other people think of you. You are tough and often ruthless.

You are independent, iconoclastic, and countercultural. You resent authority figures.
You are very headstrong. No one is going to pressure you into being someone you're not!
If my calls were not monitored and my job not dependent on those scores that is the response I would have loved to have given one of my customers today.

He seriously told me that I should "go prostitute yourself on the street corner so your company can afford to provide me with High Speed Internet".

I was actually quite flattered he thought I could bring in so much money. Though I am sure he was trying to find a polite way to call me a w****.

It sometime really baffles me how people can choose to live in a rural environment and then expect that they are entitled to the luxuries of urban society.  If you want HSI then move closer to town. It is not my fault you chose to live on 20 acres and have a mule.

What's Your Personality Type?

This is amazingly true to form of how I see myself and how I have been described by others.
BAD.

Bad, bad, bad car! Not only an alternator, but the battery too!

The good was I finally broke down and bought something big and spendy just for me... a new laptop.

The bad, bad, bad car then would not start this morning and cost me almost 600 bucks!

Why oh why oh why?
Only those here would understand that discription of the weather.  It has been grey and misty all day long.  At one point  I looked out the window and everything just had a heavy grey mist to it.  You could not tell if it was raining, snowing or what.  Definitely a breeding day.

Well the last approximately 48 hours have been ridiculously busy to say the least.  Left work at 11:45 on Thursday was on the road to Des Moines by 1:30 (why can people never be ready when they say they are going to be?). I had agreed to the trip to help Eagle and "new live-in" move her possessions from storage and her mother's house. So we get there and go to the motel (and I use this word loosely) her mother has scouted out for us.  First, the guy at the desk could not speak english, he called someone on a cell phone and thrust the thing at us.  Second, this places is just flat out scuzzy looking.  We decided to view the rooms before registering.  Let's just say I felt like I needed to take a bath in a vat of sanitizer after stepping through the door, but then what do you expect when they are advertising rooms for $45.00 a night?  Fortunately, the Econo lodge down the road was clean and reasonably priced.  Anyway got the stuff loaded the next morning and were back on the road by noon and back in Minnesota by 5 (sorry folks if you do not want me wrecking the card food is a requirement). K (live in) calls her mom to let her know we made it and mom goes off on her saying how I don't like her and I had best just get over it now.  Okay, hello I do not know you lady, we were there to get a job done and quite frankly how could you tell if I liked you or not through your "Bloody Mary Haze".  In person, I am generally a quiet person until I am comfortable with the people and the situation and I get to know you.  Give me a break!  We spent all of three hours in her presence, two of which we were loading a U-haul! So truck was unloaded this morning and I am finally back in my comfortable little abode.  And how was your weekend?
