Called my Eagle to see how he was and he started spouting Finnish at me. This is a sure sign he is most certainly on the mend. Thank Merlin and every other deity around! Being a self proclaimed Findian he prides himself on speaking Finnish, to a limited extent. I am so thrilled things are improving so rapidly. I have no worries that he will be in front of his class the first week of June.

Thank you all for your care and support. Once again, my flist comes through when those in rl could give a flying leap.

Hugs Flist and sends dark chocolate wishes to all.
Dear Flist,

I ask you for all the positive thoughts you have to spare. My Eagle is in ICU. For those who do not know he is a dear friend and more. We have been a part of each other lives for almost 20 years. He suffered a relapse (he is a recovering alcoholic) attempted to dry himself out and suffered 2 seizures yesterday... one while getting out of the shower.

I think Karma has it out for me because today is a demon day for me as well, 20 years ago I lost my fiance and now I am hanging out at a hospital.

Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts.

Hugs

See the pretty I won from morethansirius!

My neighbor and I decided to take a field trip today to Wabasha, MN, which is about an hour drive from home.  Our purpose was we were in search of truffles.  These are not just any truffles, but handcrafted truffles.  Which, by the way, are absolutely against my eating restrictions and completely delicious.

Wabasha is a quaint little town that many of you may remember from the movies Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men.

I thought I would share some picspam of the shop we visited, Chocolate Escape and the town itself.  They had some wonderful merchandise in the shop.

This mug is an inspiration to all dieting chocoholics.
Chocalte Coffee Mug

And this mug is my personal inspiration.

They had this fabulous mural stretching the whole wall giving the story of chocolate.

Does anyone remember the Green Hornet from the movies?

This is a B&B that recently had to close due to economics.
It is reputed to be haunted.

I just thought this was really cool looking.

Probably should have put this at the beginning, but this is moi by a Wabasha sign.

I cannot tell you how wonderful it is that it is Friday.

My plans so far are simple.  I am taking my neighbor out for Chinese tonight.  It seems both her daughters are too busy to think of Mother's Day and she is kind of down so...

Then the weekend will be spent cleaning my house and being lazy.  Though I really must get the house clean so I can take pictures of it to take on my trip with me.  The weather plans to be uncooperative so, I cannot do area pictures this weekend.

All of my girlfriends are busy this weekend. No surprise there, as they all are mothers and this is their weekend.  I do find myself a little envious as I too am a mother though no one sees this.  I will just keep in my heart thoughts of mine who never had the chance to celebrate this day with me. Enough of being maudlin!

I must make sure the coffee is ready to go, brush my teeth and get out the door.  Another day of cranky complaints and wacky calls awaits me.

Have a beautiful Friday Flist!

I am so excited! It is official I am going to meet my fabulous beta [livejournal.com profile] lariope and alpha reader [livejournal.com profile] beffeysue in June!

I have been trying to plan this trip for over a year and it is finally coming to fruition.  I was supposed to go in April, but then I won that trip and had to go the Scottsdale, AZ to stay in the laps of luxury at the Phoenician Resort.  I would have rather been down south. There is no turning back now though.  After a little creative persuasion with my bosses to get the one day off in the middle I needed the tickets are now sitting in a place of honor on my bookcase! I cannot believe it for the first time in my life I am taking a trip just because I want to; it is not work related and it has nothing to do with my family. Exactly 4 weeks from today I am leaving on a jet plane.

Well, I just had a very enlightening, if brief conversation. Those of you who know me well know that there is pretty much nothing to stop me from getting done what needs to be done or attending to what I see as my responsibilities. For example: I went back to work 2 days after major abdominal surgery, I have gone to work when I could not stand up straight and even tried to go to work after falling down a flight of stairs. My philosophy has been "well nobody else is going to do it and no one else is going to put money in the bank so suck it up."

What this is all leading up to is my friend Cat has not been feeling well lately and suffering from intermittent bouts of dizziness and being light headed. I just called her to see how she is doing and she tells me she is trying to get the lawn mowed before it rains. I asked her if she thought that was wise and her response was "well it needs to get done." I told her to remember this the next time she chastised me for pushing myself when she thought I shouldn't be and she said "WHO DO YOU THINK I LEARNED IT FROM?"

Now, honestly both of us were adults when we met, but she says before she met me she would have just ignored it and thought ",I don't feel well so why bother." I think I have corrupted another person. I am not sure this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I am honestly glad to see she is being more responsible in her life. That was always the one thing to bother me about her approach to life, but I think I have created a monster.

After a particularly vivid dream I woke this morning finally ready to begin the continuation of Second Hand Wand.  I am afraid this is not going to be a one shot.  I am almost 2000 words in and it is still the same day as where SHW ended.  Yikes!  I have never seen myself as an epic writer so I do not know what is going to happen with this.  There is just so much to Severus in this story that I want to explore.
For those of you on my flist who are also on Beffeysue's ... I spoke with her today about 6 PM (her time).  She seemed to be doing well and is being well looked after by her daughter, whom I have dubbed little beffeysue.  Crazy, though it seems, she is looking forward to watching the video of her surgery (some people's kids?).  She was in good spirits and looking forward to reading pleanty of fan fiction, once she masters left handed mousing.

She wanted me to again say she is grateful for all of the care, concerns and prayers being sent her way. We will, most likely, do another Beffeysue post via phone, where I type what she says, over the weekend, so she can keep you all updated on her progress.

Hugs to all

Awhile back I caved in a got a facebook account.  I don't participate in all of the silliness, but I was tired of getting nagged by everyone I knew.

The funny thing is now all of these people I barely knew from high school are looking me up "I'm so glad I found you", "I thought of you often over the years", "I hope your life is wonderful" yadda yadda yadda.

I have a hard time believing there is an sincerity in their comments because I was NOT popular in high school... I was an over weight, frizzy haired bookworm who had more friends among the staff than the student body.  So now why are all of these people so glad to realize my existence? I find myself very doubtful that they have changed and I am not about to do their home work for them.

See my pretty new icon.  [livejournal.com profile] averygoodun made me this pretty almost 2 months ago, but because of the wolf in my exchange fic I did not want to use it for fear of giving myself away.  Rest assured in the future you shall be seeing a lot of my furry friend.  I love wolves!  I think they are one of the most beautiful and majestic animals alive.

Well back to work and what to I find, but we have a potluck TOMORROW. Oh how I hate to be caught unaware so, this is what I did:

I baked off a couple Italian chicken breasts let them cool and diced them up.  Then I finely chopped some broccoli, cauliflower and carrots and shredded some sharp cheddar.  I mixed together some cream cheese, sour cream and seasonings. Finally, I sacrificed my sun-dried tomato wrappers.

The process: spread wrap with cream cheese mixture sprinkle with layers of veggies, chicken and cheese.  Roll up tight and wrap in saran wrap. Tuck them in the refrigerator and slice in the morning. Ta da instant potluck fare and I did not have to go to the store.

In other news I had to take sweet little Lucky to the vet on an emergency run yesterday as he had three successive seizures.  They call this a cluster.  The vet is not medicating at this juncture as we are not sure how frequently he has the seizures and the medication could cause more harm than good.  So at this point we are just monitoring to see what happens. Scarred the bejeebers out of me though!

I am thrilled to now be able to lay claim to Second Hand Wand, written for [livejournal.com profile] machshefa  and thank my lovely indispensable beta [livejournal.com profile] lariope and my head cheerleader and alpha reader [livejournal.com profile] beffeysue .
