Tell Me What You Think?

Okay, here is the deal.

I have the dress, the shoes, the make-up, the jewelry and a plan for my hair but... my nails look like crap.  The recent issues I have had with my health, low blood sugar and all, have destroyed my nails and there is no hope of them being recovered by mid April.

Would it be terribly vain of me to cave in and have acrylic ones done for my trip?

I just truly want to look my best.

Go with temporary nails. That way, you'll only be vain for a night! :-D (And yes, technically it is vain, but who cares? Look good, darn it! You deserve it!)

Go for it. It's prettier than just cutting them really short, which is what I do when they're being crap.

An alternative to actual acrylic is silk wraps. That's what I did for years, and they helped my own nails grow longer as they merely added strength and support to my natural nails (which are very thin and the nail beds are so flat that when my nails grow, they curl and ripple--and I can't even use the press-on kind, b/c they're too curved to attach to my nail beds *snort*). You could start the wraps now, and as your nails grow, go get a fill right before the trip. No matter what, have a blast, darlin! *hugs*

Go for the fake nails temporarily. The thing is, the glue they use will damage your nails further, so be aware of that. After the fact, I'm sure you won't care, and it will grow out.

I did silk wraps for a while. But what happens is that it weakens the nail beneath. I had to let it grow out (you can't peel it off), and had a period of really thin nails. Research that a bit before doing it.

I would go the acrylic route a day or two before, keep them moderate length so you don't accidentally lose one or two at the wrong time, and they'll grow out to where you can cut them off. A nice French manicure on both fingers and toes maybe? Have a professional do it. I do my own, but I don't deal with acrylics or silk wraps anymore like I did a few years ago.
